Why convert JPG to PNG?
PNG is lossless, so any further edits don't degrade quality. PNG also supports transparency, which JPG does not. For photos that will be re-saved many times, PNG keeps the source clean.
Will the file get bigger?
Usually yes. PNG is lossless and JPG is highly compressed, so PNG output is often several times larger. That's the trade-off for lossless storage.
Can I add transparency after converting?

Is there a size limit?
Common photo sizes work fine. Very large files (50 MB+) may be rejected; resize the source down first.
