Frequently asked questions
How big can the two texts be?
Each side can be up to 200,000 characters or 5,000 lines. The diff stays readable and the PDF paginates automatically.
What's the difference between unified and side-by-side?
Unified stacks the changes in one column with + and - markers, like a git diff. Side-by-side shows the original on the left and the revised on the right so you can scan them in parallel.
Does the whitespace-ignore option change the file I download?
No. The PDF always shows the lines exactly as you pasted them. The toggle only affects how lines are matched during the comparison, so cosmetic whitespace differences don't get flagged as real changes.
Are my texts stored?
Only the generated PDF is stored, and only for 7 days, like every other tool here. After that the cleanup worker permanently deletes the file.
Can I send the diff to someone else?
Yes. Your secure download link is valid for 7 days and goes to your email, so you can forward it. We never email the PDF itself, only the link.
