Will transparency be preserved?
Yes. PNG output keeps the full alpha channel intact, so transparent backgrounds stay transparent.
How much smaller will the PNG get?
It depends on the image. Flat graphics and screenshots typically shrink the most. Photographic PNGs benefit less, in those cases JPG or WebP usually wins on size.
Should I use WebP instead?
If you control where the image is displayed (e.g. a modern website), WebP usually beats PNG on size at equal visual quality. Use our WebP Converter for that. PNG is the right pick when you need broad compatibility or a lossless format.
Can I also resize the image?
Yes. Switch to the Resize tab to change pixel dimensions while you're at it.
How long is my file kept?
Uploaded files and generated results are auto-deleted after 7 days.
