Frequently asked questions
Will compression hurt the photo quality?
JPG compression is lossy by design, but at 70 to 85 quality most photos look identical to the original at normal viewing sizes. The slider lets you trade quality against file size, with a live estimate so you can see the impact before you commit.
What's a good quality setting for email?
70 is a safe default for most photos. For high-resolution proofs, 80 to 85 keeps detail without much size cost. Below 60 you start to see noticeable artifacts in skin tones and gradients.
Can I also resize while compressing?
Yes. Switch to the Resize tab if you want to change the pixel dimensions too. Often the easiest way to shrink a photo is to resize it down to the size you actually need.
Does this strip EXIF metadata?
Yes, the compressed JPG ships clean by default, no GPS coordinates, camera model, or other EXIF data, which also helps the file stay smaller.
How long is my file kept?
Uploaded files and generated results are auto-deleted after 7 days.
