Frequently asked questions
Is the sort case-sensitive?
By default no. Tick 'Case-sensitive' and uppercase lines sort before lowercase. Otherwise case is ignored.
Does it sort numbers correctly?
The sort is alphabetical, so '10' comes before '2'. For natural numeric sort, pad your numbers with leading zeros first.
Are duplicate lines kept?
Yes. Sorting only changes the order. To also remove duplicates, use our 'Remove Duplicate Lines' tool first or after.
How big a list can I sort?
Up to 2 MB per job, which is hundreds of thousands of lines for typical content.
How long is the result kept?
The sorted .txt is auto-deleted after 7 days. Re-download is available during that window via the secure link.
